Several astronauts aboard the International Space Station have during the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. On Sunday, German astronaut Alexander Gerst ended up having the most reason to celebrate, as his home country battled Argentina — and ultimately won — in an epic showdown in Rio camisetas de futbol baratas Janeiro for the World Cup trophy.
On Saturday, Gerst shot a of Rio in the nighttime, capturing the city ablaze with lights and a stray thunderstorm or two. The lights of a Rio that comes to life at night is contrasted with the dark, serene Atlantic Ocean in the second half of the video.
While taking the video, the International Space Station was about 250 miles above the nighttime sky, and traveling at a staggering pace of nearly 18,000 miles per hour.
